A Message from Our Executive Director: Remembering Elliot Leonard
It is with profound sadness that I share the passing of our beloved founder, Elliot Leonard, who left us on Saturday, June 6. Elliot was more than a founder. He was a visionary, an advocate, a mentor, and chosen family to many of us. His life’s work was rooted in a single, unwavering belief: that every LGBTQ+ person deserves to live openly, safely, and with dignity. His impact on our community is immeasurable, and his legacy will be felt for generations to come. His Final Message to Our Community Before his passing, Elliot prepared a message intended for Pride Month. Today, it feels more meaningful than ever to share his words: “Don’t give up. You matter. Your life matters. Your voice matters. Our community matters.” In the face of rising challenges targeting LGBTQ+ people, especially transgender individuals, LGBTQ+ youth, and those facing compounding forms of discrimination, Elliot’s call to action remains as urgent as ever.
